ADHESION PROMOTING COATINGS/ PRIMERS
ADHESION PROMOTING COATINGS/ PRIMERS
Adhesion Promoting Coatings (tiecoats)
Forms and adhesion promoting interface between the substrate (plastic or metal) and the coating
Forms and adhesion promoting interface between two layers of organic coatings
Enhances long-term adhesion durability
Enhances long-term weatherability
Allows lower cure temperatures for heat-cured coatings such as polysiloxanes without adversely affecting adhesion durability
Stabilizes adhesion issues with additives migrated to the surface such as internal mold release, UV absorbers, flow control agents, surfactants, colorants, anti-static agents, and fire retardants
Supplied at 5% to 40% solids in solvents or water and/or combination of solvents/water
Thickness variations: 0.5 to 25 microns depending on application and solids content
Applied by dip, flow, spin, spray, and flow coating methods
Curing conditions: Thermal, UV or ambient cure
Cost effective
Custom formulated and freshly manufactured to order
Supplied from 1 to 55 gallons
Applications: To promote coating adhesion between plastic, glass, and metallic substrates, to allow lower cure temperatures with no adverse effects on coating adhesion, to promote coating adhesion to low energy surfaces.

PRIMERS
Based on various organic and organometallic coupling agents
Applied by wiping, spin, spray, and flow coating methods
Impart a thin, chemically reactive surface
o Forms a near monomolecular layer
o Leads to the formation of a covalent, ionic, or hydrogen bonds between the substrate and the coating
Enhances substrate surface energy
o Improves wetting
